Fantastic Results, Inspiring Journeys: Petroc Students Share Their Stories

Petroc students continue to celebrate another year of fantastic results, with achievements across A Levels, T Levels, Vocational courses and Access to Higher Education programmes.

This year’s cohort achieved a 97% overall pass rate at A Level, with a notable rise in A*–A grades, while T Level students reached a 99% pass rate. Those studying Level 3 technical qualifications also impressed, securing a strong 93% pass rate.

Among the stand-out successes was Ahmad Aslam, who achieved three A* grades in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. He is now heading to the University of Bristol to study medicine. Reflecting on his time at Petroc, Ahmad said:
“When I first came to Petroc it was more casual than I expected, the teachers and the atmosphere made me feel really comfortable and I could ask questions freely and discuss things to help improve mine and others’ understanding during class.”

Annalise Roome also secured three A* grades, in Chemistry, Physics and Maths, and will begin her degree in Chemistry at Bath Spa University. She credited her success not only to the college’s hands-on teaching approach but also to the friendships she built through the netball academy, where her team remained unbeaten for two years.
“I loved travelling away with the team for the matches, we’ve all become great friends because of it,” she said.

Meanwhile, T Level Education and Childcare student Eleanor Gabell achieved a Distinction* grade and will now study Psychology at the University of Plymouth. She praised her tutors, adding:
“The teachers have been phenomenal and the trips throughout the year have been good as well, I especially enjoyed our trip to Exmoor Zoo!”

Assistant Principal, Jo Byrne, said she was delighted to see students’ efforts rewarded:
“Every year our learners’ success exceeds expectations. I’m incredibly proud of the students and Petroc teaching teams. To see so many learners progress to their first-choice destinations is hugely rewarding.”

With students now set to take their next steps into higher education and beyond, this year’s results highlight the determination and achievements of young people across the college.
