Petroc Art Students Explore Berlin’s Cultural Riches

Art students from Petroc College recently returned from an unforgettable educational visit to Berlin, Germany, as part of the Petroc Go initiative. The immersive trip was made possible through the support of the UK Turing Scheme, giving students the opportunity to experience the German capital’s vibrant art scene and historic landmarks first-hand.
The visit began with a unique opportunity to practise observational drawing from the exclusive rooftop terrace of the Humboldt Forum, offering panoramic views across the city’s skyline. This rare perspective provided a breathtaking environment for creative reflection and artistic study.
The group also enjoyed a highly productive day at the Ernst LitfaĂź School, where students explored the intricate craft of printmaking. Guided by experienced tutors, the session allowed students to experiment with new techniques and develop their skills in a professional setting.
Berlin’s rich culture and history continued to unfold with visits to Hackescher Markt, known for its eclectic street art, and the Berlin Spy Museum, which brought espionage history to life with interactive exhibits that fascinated both history buffs and artists alike.
A trip to the iconic TV Tower offered stunning views and a deeper understanding of Berlin’s architectural heritage, followed by free time where students could explore galleries, museums, and cultural attractions of their own choosing—broadening their artistic influences and enriching their academic experience.
This unforgettable journey was more than just a sightseeing tour; it was a hands-on opportunity for Petroc students to grow artistically and personally. Thank you to the UK Turing Scheme for making these trips possible.
