Petroc Goes to Slovenia to visit Special Education Centre Janez Levec

Fifteen students from Petroc’s Supported Learning recently returned from an enriching seven-day trip to Ljubljana, Slovenia as part of the Petroc Go programme.

Accompanied by five dedicated staff members, the group established a new host partnership with the Special Education Centre Janez Levec, a school based in Ljubljana, the visit blended cultural exchange with personal development.

During their time in Ljubljana, students sampled the Slovenian educational environment, engaging with local students and staff and even picked up some basic Slovenian language.

The group took a journey to Lake Bled, where they participated in a mix of course-related activities and cultural sightseeing. Other highlights included visits to the Zoo, House of Illusions and Ljubljana Castle. All offering students an engaging blend of fun, history, and learning.

Throughout the visit, students developed essential life skills such as teamwork, independence, and communication, all of which contribute to their future employability.

This exciting opportunity was made possible through funding from the UK Turing Scheme, supporting the college’s commitment to offering transformative learning experiences beyond the classroom.
