Petroc Launches Ambitious Work Experience Campaign – 2000 futures, 1 community, 4 months. 

Today Petroc has announced the launch of its most ambitious campaign to date, aiming to secure 2,000 work experience opportunities for students by Christmas 2025.  

 The campaign, which begins on September 1, calls on employers, businesses, and the local community to play their part in shaping the futures of young people across North Devon. 

 With the tagline “2000 Futures, 1 Community, 4 Months”, the initiative aims to highlight the power of collective action, bringing together employers of all sizes to create opportunities that will help learners gain vital skills, confidence, and insight into the world of work. 

 But What Does Work Experience Looks Like in 2025? 

 Work experience is no longer one-size-fits-all. In 2025, Petroc offers a wide range of opportunities, ensuring every learner has a chance to experience work in a way that suits their pathway and aspirations: 

  •  Work Experience Placements – tailored, individual placements designed around each learner’s interests and goals. 
  • T Level Industry Placements – substantial, skills-focused placements aligned with a learner’s study programme, providing meaningful experience in their chosen field. 
  • Industry Talks – professionals share insights, experiences, and advice directly with learners, helping to inspire the next generation. 
  • Group Work Experience – short-term collaborative projects where learners tackle real-world challenges in teams. 
  • Site Visits & Workplace Tours – opportunities for learners to experience a variety of work environments and gain a broader understanding of career pathways. 
  • Supported Internships – longer-term, structured opportunities designed to help learners, including those with additional needs, transition successfully into employment. 

 A Call to Employers and the Community 

Petroc is encouraging employers across all sectors, from small local businesses to larger organisations, to get involved.  

 Whether it’s offering a placement, hosting a site visit, or sharing industry expertise, every contribution makes a difference. 

 “This campaign is about more than just numbers,” said Julie Yates, Head Of Business Engagement. “It’s about building futures together. By Christmas 2025, we want to be able to say that as a community, we came together to give 2,000 new opportunities for our learners. Each opportunity, no matter how big or small, can have a real impact on the future workforce.”
