Petroc Outdoor Adventure Students Push It To The Limit!
Petroc’s Outdoor Adventure students have been pushing their limits, taking part in a packed schedule of exciting expeditions designed to test their skills, leadership, and teamwork in real-world environments.
From scaling rugged cliffs to paddling along dramatic rivers, these future outdoor leaders have embraced every challenge that nature has thrown their way. The group recently completed a series of climbing sessions across some of North Devon’s most iconic crags, developing their technical ability and confidence at height. Their adventures didn’t stop there though, students also took to the water for kayaking and coasteering, exploring Devon’s stunning shoreline while honing their rescue techniques and water safety awareness.
One of the highlights has been the overnight camping expedition, where students put their navigation and expedition planning skills into action. Working in teams, they mapped routes, prepared equipment, and led sections of the journey, gaining valuable experience in leadership, communication, decision-making and even cooking skills along the way.
For the students, these adventures are more than just outdoor pursuits, they’re part of Petroc’s hands-on approach to developing resilience, problem-solving, and leadership in a dynamic environment.
As the year continues, the group is already preparing for winter mountaineering, advanced navigation exercises, and more coastal challenges — proving that learning at Petroc truly takes place both inside and outside the classroom.
