Petroc Staff member Takes on Daring Abseil Challenge for Seal Charity

Petroc Student Liaison Officer, Maddy Carter, is gearing up for an adrenaline-fuelled challenge this September as she takes on an abseil down the Berry Beast, a towering 180ft cliff in Hartland, Devon, all in aid of a cause close to her heart.
Originally due to take part in a charity skydive earlier this year, Maddy was left disappointed when the event was cancelled. But rather than giving up, she’s turned her sights to a new adventure, one that will push her even further out of her comfort zone.
“I’m actually scared of heights,” Maddy admitted. “So this abseil is going to be a huge personal challenge for me. But knowing it’s all for such an important charity makes it worthwhile.”
The funds raised will go towards The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, part of the Sea Life Trust, which works tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate sick and injured seal pups around the Cornish coastline, as well as raising awareness about marine conservation.
Maddy’s courage and commitment are already inspiring friends, colleagues, and the wider community to get behind her.
