Petroc’s Online Parent Welcome Events a Resounding Success Following Record Engagement!

Petroc has celebrated the success of its recent series of online Parent Welcome Events, which saw record attendance and overwhelmingly positive feedback from families. The events were designed to give parents and carers a warm introduction to the college, its values, and the support on offer for their young people.

The initial welcome session, held online to ensure maximum accessibility, featured a presentation from senior college leaders outlining Petroc’s curriculum, enrichment opportunities, and pastoral support systems.

The event concluded with a live Q&A, where parents were invited to submit questions directly to staff. This open format was praised by attendees for its transparency and inclusivity.

Following the main event, many parents raised further questions about support available for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

In response to this feedback, the college acted swiftly and

organised a dedicated follow-up session specifically for parents and carers of students with SEN and EHCPs.

The session provided more in-depth information on tailored support, learning plans, and the role of the college’s dedicated SEN team. Staff from the Additional Learning Support (ALS) department were on hand to answer individual queries and offer reassurance around transitions and ongoing care.

Petroc is committed to working in partnership with families. The success of these welcome events shows the value of listening to what parents need. By offering timely, relevant information and following up with more specialised support, we’re laying strong foundations for student success from day one.
