Students Shine in Prestigious Cambridge Chemistry Challenge

Four of our Chemistry students earned national recognition recently in the esteemed Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, a rigorous competition designed for Year 12 and first year college students across the UK. Out of six participants representing the school, four achieved certificates, two Gold, one Silver, and one Copper, a remarkable result in this prestigious annual event.
The Cambridge Chemistry Challenge is known for its challenging questions that go beyond the A-level syllabus, testing problem-solving ability, chemical insight, and creativity.
Earning a certificate in this competition is a significant accomplishment, with the Gold award placing students among the top performers nationally.
In addition to the four who received certificates, the remaining two students narrowly missed out on the Copper award by just a single mark, highlighting the overall strength and dedication of our team.
Petroc Chemistry Lecturer, Mark Rivers praised the students’ efforts, saying “This is a truly outstanding performance. The Cambridge Chemistry Challenge demands a deep understanding of chemistry and the ability to apply it in unfamiliar contexts. Our students should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
Congratulations to all six participants for their hard work and impressive results in this highly competitive examination!
