The Taw Restaurant Celebrates a Spectacular Final Service of the Year!

The acclaimed student-led Taw Restaurant at Petroc wrapped up its academic year in style with a series of final services that showcased the exceptional talent, creativity, and professionalism of its catering and hospitality students.
Throughout the year, the students have served a combined total of 1,253 diners, with 878 guests attending lunches and 375 attending for evening meals.
A Feast to Remember
Guests have been treated to a variety of expertly prepared dishes, reflecting a year of hard work, skill development, and culinary innovation by Petroc students. Each menu was thoughtfully curated and professionally executed under real restaurant conditions, offering a high-end dining experience for the local community.
Lunch Highlights Included fish of the day with crab and mussel sauce finished with crispy capers, Chicken Souvlaki, Venison and Ale Stew, Pad Thai, Beef Bourguignon and tempting desserts like Banoffee Crumble Tart, Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue Pie, Chocolate Delice, Vanilla Crème Brûlée and more.
Dinner Guests Enjoyed leek and potato Soup with a fresh bread roll, Chicken Supreme in a tarragon and mushroom white wine sauce, Goan Prawn Curry, Vegan Wellington, and Charred Cauliflower sides and classic desserts like Eton Mess, Steamed Sponge Pudding with Custard, and French Apple Tart.
The final service of the year offered a beautifully balanced menu that celebrated seasonal produce and student finesse.
More Than Just a Meal
Throughout the year, additional themed menus including a festive Christmas Dinner, indulgent Afternoon Tea, and a playful “comfort food” inspired dinner featuring cheese on toast, cod and chips, and churros with chocolate sauce gave students a broad canvas to demonstrate advanced skills in both classic and modern cookery.

The Taw Restaurant, run entirely by Petroc’s hospitality and catering students under the guidance of professional chefs and teaching staff, provides a unique environment where learners gain real-world experience in a live kitchen and front-of-house setting.
The final service is always a proud moment for the students and staff. It’s not only a culmination of everything they’ve learned this year, it’s also a celebration of their growth, teamwork, and commitment to excellence.
