Stephen Wells

Biography

Stephen is currently Director of Estates and Facilities at the University of East Anglia (UEA). UEA is a dual mission University located in the historic city of Norwich. Stephen has worked within the Higher Education sector for almost fifteen years and held similar senior estates positions at London South Bank University, Queen Mary University of London, University College London, and the University of Surrey.

Stephen’s early career was in the NHS in the South-East of England where he held similar positions within Estates and Facilities. During his time within the NHS, Stephen undertook a significant amount of part-time education, achieving an ONC/HNC, Degree and Master qualifications whilst in full time employment. Stephen has a degree in Project Management for Construction and an MBA from the University of Brighton. In addition, Stephen is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Building (MCIOB).

For two years (2020–2022), Stephen was the Chairman of Association of University Director of Estates (AUDE), an association that represents over 160 Estates departments across the Higher Education sector.

Stephen lives in Brighton with his partner and has three daughters, one studying in Bristol and one studying in Bournemouth.
