The college campuses remain closed w/c 4 January, but if you have any immediate concerns or needs, you can contact our Safeguarding Team on 07971673031.
At Petroc, the health, safety and well-being of learners are of paramount concern to us. We listen to our learners and take seriously what they tell us. We want to work in partnership with parents and employers to help each learner achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to the world they will be part of in the future.
To promote a safe environment for learners, our staff selection and recruitment procedure includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, including Disclosure and Barring Service checks, as governed by current legislation.
Petroc Prevent Duty Statement
The Prevent Duty 2015
Safeguarding against radicalisation and extremism is part of our Prevent Duty, and falls under our Duty of Care. This is no different from safeguarding against any other vulnerability at Petroc.
We expect all of our staff and learners to uphold and promote the fundamental British Values of the society in which we live and embed them in our lives at Petroc. These values include:
- Individual Liberty
- The Rule of Law
- Respect and Tolerance
All staff are trained in Safeguarding and Prevent and receive regular update training, and are aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within Petroc. If any members of the college or local community have concerns about the welfare of a learner at Petroc, please contact the College Safeguarding Team.
Petroc takes the safety and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors extremely seriously and operates a visible ID procedure for all people on college sites. The wearing and displaying of lanyards and ID badges whilst on campus is expected at all times and non-conformance to our lanyard expectation will be enforced by all Petroc staff.
