Petroc Celebrates Colleges Week 2025

Petroc College Celebrates Colleges Week 2025: Shaping Futures & Strengthening Communities

Petroc is proud to celebrate Colleges Week 2025 (3-7 March), a nationwide campaign highlighting the essential role of Further Education in transforming lives, boosting the economy, and preparing learners for the jobs of tomorrow.

With this yearโ€™s themes ranging from economic growth to sustainability and social mobility, Petroc is showcasing its commitment to equipping students with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Kickstarting the Economy

Petroc is leading the charge in workforce development with its 100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days campaign, encouraging businesses to invest in the next generation. Working in collaboration with employers, the initiative connects businesses with talented apprentices ready to bring fresh skills and energy to their industries.

Jon Baglow, Head of Apprenticeships at Petroc, said:

โ€œApprenticeships are a game-changer for both learners and businesses. They provide hands-on experience, industry-relevant training, and create a skilled workforce that drives economic growth.โ€

Powering a Green Future

As a leader in sustainability education, Petroc is preparing learners for careers in the booming green energy sector. With South West maritime and renewable energy industries growing rapidly, students at Petroc gain hands-on experience in fields such as hydrogen innovation, offshore wind, and decarbonisation.

Sam Booth, Lecturer in Public Services, explains:

โ€œOur partnerships with industry professionals ensure that students graduate with the knowledge and confidence to make a real difference in their communities.โ€

Sarah Samuels, Head of Student Experience, adds:

โ€œWe provide the support, guidance, and opportunities to help every student achieve their career goals.โ€
