Learning Technologies and Library Services

Providing tech support and quiet places to study.

Essential Skills

At our North Devon, Mid Devon and Brannams campus, we offer quiet and comfortable places to study as well as support with technology.

Our LTLS team can provide a choice of PC or Chromebooks for independent study or for completing timetabled digital lessons (between 'InPerson' classes), and are on hand to help you access Google Classrooms, change passwords and access Eduroam - plus much more.

What can the team help you with?

  • Finding relevant and reliable information to support your study
  • Using Google Classroom, Moodle and the MyPetroc dashboard
  • Accessing e-resources and e-books
  • Using the computers and Chromebooks

Additional information

We provide a range of study spaces across all of our campuses:

North Devon campus: In the Study Centre you will find computers and Chromebooks which are available to use for self-study. We also have a large study space where you can use your own devices.  Take a virtual tour of our North Devon study areas.

Brannams campus: In the Learning Resource Room you have access to computers and Chromebooks. Apple Macs, with specialist software, are also available. We also have large study areas where you can use your own devices. Take a virtual tour of Brannams campus.

Mid Devon campus: In the Learning Centre at Tiverton, you will find computers and Chromebooks that can be used for studying. We also have large study spaces where you can use your own devices. Take a virtual tour of our Mid Devon study and library areas.

The Tech Hub (at North and Mid Devon campus) is a large open space where you can come to study and work on our in-situ pcs or your own devices. You can also hire out a Chromebook using the self-issue station. This will enable you to loan out a Chromebook for four hours and renew your loan whenever you want.

From the Tech Hub you can also hire out media equipment such as ipads, cameras and tripods.

If you prefer to work in silence, our Silent Study computer room is always available, and we also have two group rooms that you can book out, either online through the Library Services Moodle page or by asking one of our team. These rooms are great for group projects as they each have a computer and plenty of table space to work on.

We can also print out a replacement student ID badge if yours is lost or broken.

If you need any help with booking a room or any equipment, a friendly member of staff will always be on hand.

At the library, you can borrow a range of items including books, headphones and Chromebooks.

With your Petroc student card, you can borrow up to eight items at a time. You must return your items on time to avoid fines -  you'll be emailed with reminders!

In addition to our Library resources, you have access to our MyDiscover database, which gives you access to 1000’s of academic articles; Ebook central, which gives you 24/7 access to 100’s of ebooks; and BoB (Box of Broadcasts) where you can view current and past TV programmes and podcasts.

These resources - and more - are available via the Petroc Learning Technologies and Library Services Moodle page.

Eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, international wireless service that is available to all staff and students at Petroc. Find out how to log in and troubleshooting support.
