Petroc students are raising funds for Churches Housing Action Team

Petroc students Ray Levy and Ryan Lambert, who are studying HE Health and Social Care, are trying to raise £500 to help fund the purchase of slow cookers for the Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) food bank in Mid Devon.

The appeal for donations will enable the students to buy a variety of sizes of slow cookers to help those in need, be they young people leaving care, families without cooking facilities, people who have to choose between cooking and heating – and many others who are in need through job losses and facing the ending of furlough. Ray told us: “Slow cookers are an excellent option as they use very little power but allow cheaper cuts of meat to be made into delicious nutritious meals”.

Once purchased, Ray and Ryan will donate the slow cookers to the CHAT Tiverton foodbank, who will distribute them with recipes to help the recipients make warming nutritious meals and stay well through the colder months of late winter and early spring and beyond.
