Project SEARCH success

Project SEARCH has supported eight interns this academic year, working in a wide variety of placements across the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, including pathology, microbiology, emergency department, Medical Assessment Unit (MAU), King George V and Victoria wards, Sodexo patient support assistants, domestics and recycling, receipts and distribution, general medical secretaries and optometry.

The interns have exceeded all expectations, thanks to their hard work and the fantastic feedback of the teams they have been working in.

Two interns have already started employment: Chris Davies has gained a full-time position in his NHS dream role as a medical laboratory assistant, and Emily Mock has achieved her dream of employment, cleaning the path lab. Emily said “All my hard work has paid off, I thought I would never get a job but I have. People with special needs can do it if they put their minds to it.

The remaining interns in the program continue to provide the trust and Sodexo with an excellent helping hand in exchange for increasing their employability.
