Petroc’s hairdressing and make-up students showcased their exceptional talents at the college’s annual competition this morning (March 26, 2018).
The Level 3 learners, who are studying towards the Hairdressing Advanced Technical Diploma and Theatrical, Special Effects and Media Make-up Artistry, competed in the salons of Petroc’s state-of-the-art Lifestyle and Tourism Centre. The students worked in pairs to bring their ideas to life.
The theme this year was ‘Wonders of Our World’ and many students spent weeks leading up to the event planning their designs and building elaborate scenery to complement their work.
The students were judged on both their technical skill and their creative intuition.
Speaking at the certificate presentation, Curriculum Team Leader, Claire Palmer, said: “The amount of effort that every one of you has put in is quite incredible. The standard is so high this year, which made judging very difficult.”
Rita Sampson, Department Manager for Lifestyle, Care and Foundation Learning, was one of the judges at the event. She said: “I can see that so much thought and effort has been put into the designs. I was absolutely wowed as I walked through the door! You should all be very proud of the work you have produced together.”
