Diploma for the Early Years Workforce EYE

In order to work in the early years sector as a supervisor, a staff member must have a minimum of a Level 3 qualification. This is the perfect course to undertake to gain this essential qualification as it will give you the opportunity to demonstrate competence as an Early Years Educator or Child minder and develop knowledge and skills related to the specified job roles in early years education.

This as a part-time, adult learner-friendly Diploma in Children’s Learning and Development (Early Years Educator) (QCF). The qualification is supported by The National College for Teaching & Leadership (NCTL) and meets the NCTL Early Years Educator (Level 3) qualifications criteria.

The course combines both knowledge (through written work) and competence (through work placements) which will then be used as evidence to build a portfolio covering the whole qualification.

This is a certificated course. Key areas of study include:
Child Development:
Understanding the stages of child development and how to support children’s learning and development in various areas.
Safeguarding:
Learning about safeguarding children, including recognizing and responding to child protection concerns.
Curriculum:
Understanding the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and how to plan and deliver effective learning experiences.
Assessment:
Learning how to observe and assess children’s progress and use this information to inform their learning.
Working with Parents:
Developing effective communication and partnership skills with parents and carers.
Health and Safety:
Understanding health and safety regulations and procedures in early years settings.

Assessments

The course will be assessed by written assessments, observations carried out by the assessor, witness testimonies and reflective accounts.

Entry Requirements

Student wishing to enrol on the standalone qualification (not apprenticeship) will be considered on individual merit, however for employment purposes it is important to have gained a GCSE grade C/4 or Functional Skill Level 2 qualification in English.

Progression

On completion of the course you can study a Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training Management.

We have an experienced team of early years assessors who carry mandatory observations to help you improve your practice to workforce standard. We have study pods and facilities to support your studies as well as a dedicated careers advisor.

Q: Is there any funding available to help pay for my course?

A: Many of our courses are free to attend (subject to eligibility). We will carry out a fee assessment when you enrol to establish if you meet this criteria.

As this course requires you to undertake work placements with children and/or vulnerable adults, a DBS check is required.
