Please note: You will not be enrolled or have access to your timetable until after you have attended an enrolment session.
Below are some FAQs to help you make the most of your day.
Q: Do I have to attend an enrolment session?
A: Yes! It is essential you attend an enrolment session as you will not be on the system or be able to access timetables and essential learning until you have enrolled.
Q: What do I bring to enrolment?
A:
- It is essential that you bring your exam results or certificates with you, if you haven’t already uploaded them to myPetroc. You must bring proof of your Maths and English results. We will not be able to enrol you onto your course until your results have been verified.
- If a DBS is required for your course, please bring ID documents if you have not already provided these.
- If you are applying for a bursary and haven’t already provided evidence, please bring evidence of your household income with you.
- Any relevant evidence to support exam access arrangements.
Please note: Not all of these will apply to you – you can check outstanding checklist items on myPetroc to see which apply.
Q: What happens if I do not get the grades I was predicted, or if I want to change course?
A: Please still attend the enrolment session. If you have not met your entry requirements (or if you have exceeded them) we will discuss your options when you come in for enrolment.
Q: Who will I meet at enrolment?
A: There will be various support teams on hand to help you. This includes our Admissions & Enrolments Team, our Faculty Admin Team, and our Advice & Guidance Team. They will all support you in completing your final steps to becoming a student! Our Curriculum Team will also check you have met the entry requirements for your course and discuss any concerns about your chosen course.
Q: When do I start the course?
A: The College term starts on Monday 9 September. You will not be able to view your timetable until after you have enrolled. Please note that during the first few weeks of term, timetables may be subject to change due to group sizes.
Q: How long will the enrolment session take?
A: Please allow up to two hours to complete your enrolment. All enrolment sessions will vary depending on the number of outstanding checklist items you have, if you have decided to change your course, or if you need to discuss transferring up or down a level. Please be prepared to queue during peak times.
Q: Can I bring someone with me?
A: No, your enrolment session is just for you. Please do not bring anyone with you due to space restrictions. If you have a friend who is coming to college but has been given a different time slot for enrolment, please ensure you stick to your allocated time as the relevant curriculum staff will only be available to see you at specified timings.
Q: What if I need extra support?
A: If you feel that you require extra support, please let a member of our team know on arrival and we can ensure you are given all the support you need to complete your enrolment.
Q: Do I have to study English and Maths alongside my course?
A: You will continue to study English and Maths until you achieve a Grade 4/5 or the end of the academic year you turned 19, whichever is sooner.
Q: What happens if I am unable to attend my enrolment session?
A: If you are unable to attend the time slot you have been given, please contact us on 01271 852427 or 01271 852443 to discuss your options.
Q: I can’t log in to myPetroc, what should I do?
A: A member of our team will be on hand to help you log in during the session to enable you to complete your outstanding checklist items.
Q: Can someone else attend for me?
A: No, we require you to attend your enrolment session in person. No one else can enrol on your behalf, as we require you to sign your enrolment form.
