Guide to applying
Take a look below for information on applying for a course at Petroc and what happens after you apply.
Before you apply for a course at Petroc, make sure you are aware of all the options available to you; come along to our Open Events, speak to friends and family, and browse the website or our prospectuses.
If you need more help finding a study programme or course best suited to you, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly Advice & Guidance Team.
Applications can be made online by selecting your study programme or course(s) and adding them to your course 'shopping basket'. Once you’ve completed your application you’ll receive confirmation from us via email to let you know we have received this. If you need any help with your application, come in and see us, or contact the Advice & Guidance Centre.
Note to Higher Education Students - Foundation Degrees and Honours Degrees: If you are applying to Petroc as well as other Higher Education institutions, please go to www.ucas.co.uk. You will need to enter the institution code name ‘PETRO’, institution code ‘P51’ and the course code. Alternatively, if you are only applying for courses facilitated by Petroc, you can do so through the website.
After we confirm receipt of your application, we’ll send you an email inviting you to an interview. During your interview, we’ll ask a bit more about you and your learning needs, as well as give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your course and life at Petroc.
Following a successful interview, you will receive an offer of a place at Petroc via email; it will specify any offer conditions as discussed at your interview, such as required grades.
If you are not offered a place on your first choice, we will ensure that someone talks through your options with you and either offers you a place on another relevant course or gives you information to take away to help consider your options.
Once you’ve accepted an offer, we’ll send you regular updates and reminders so you’re fully prepared for starting college - make sure you keep an eye out on your emails! You can also keep up-to-date with what’s going on at Petroc via our website, on Facebook (Petroc Official and Petroc Mid Devon) and on Twitter.
If you are a school leaver, you’ll be invited to an Introduction Day in August, where you’ll meet your tutors and classmates, and start to find your way around the campus. You’ll be sent information about your introductory day over the summer.
