Biography
What made you pick this particular course?
This course was recommended to me by my A-Level lecturer Michelle Semmens. I was also looking into doing a Computing degree at university, but having a course local to me allowed me to stay living at home while partaking in the degree.
What did you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
The opportunities to meet employers and businesses that visited Petroc was an interesting experience and allowed me to expand my knowledge of alternate career paths. Along with 3 other classmates, I was also given the opportunity to go on a 17 day trip to Japan which was funded by the Turing scheme.
Did you undertake any work experience throughout your studies?
Two work experience opportunities were presented to me during my studies at Petroc. One of them was an internship for North Devon Makes involving working as a group with members of my class to make a website, and the other was a single day at Bray Leino, a digital marketing company based in South Molton. Both experiences helped me to improve my knowledge and gave me skills that I could use on my course.
What do you plan to do when you leave Petroc?
I will be continuing the final year of my degree at Plymouth University once I have finished my final year at Petroc. Then, I plan on entering a career in Games Development or a similar Computing field.
Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
The course contains a wide variety of topics throughout the Computing area, some of which are quite challenging, so if that is something which appeals to you, then it is a good course to choose.
