Biography

Why did you choose to come to Petroc?
I came to Petroc because the course that I was interested in sounded like it would really benefit my working life. The course offered everything that I was interested in and more. The facilities at Petroc are amazing as well, the computer suites are a great way of doing coursework at college. After reading the course details, I found that all of the learning criteria applied to my interest and what I wanted to get out of the course.

What made you pick this particular study programme/course?
This course was chosen for me by my employer to help me climb up the management ladder. I was given a choice of courses to go on and I selected this one because of all the benefits that it would have on how I work.

What have been the highlights so far?
The highlights of this course have been exploring new ways of working and being able to relate my learning to my work. What I’ve learnt so far has helped me massively, both personally and in my workplace.

What do you most enjoy about studying at Petroc?
My lecturer is really nice and is happy to help wherever we need it, and I also like how close the campus is to where I live.

What do you plan to do when you leave Petroc?
Once I’ve finished this course, I will be able to manage my team effectively and confidently. My place of work is going under construction at the moment, we are building a third warehouse. Once the building is finished, I will be given my own desk/office and I will become more of a desk-based worker, but I will still be warehouse manager of warehouse number 2.

What’s the long-term plan?
I am unsure as to what my long-term plan is, but for the time being I will be staying in my current job working as a warehouse manager. Our business is growing rapidly at the moment, therefore, I think I will see what the future holds for this business.

Any advice for someone thinking of choosing the same course as you?
The course is a great way for someone who wants to be a manager or improve their leadership skills. Therefore, you need to be open to changing how you work to benefit yourself and your team. Another tip would be to stay on top of your coursework.
