Building Maintenance – Entry Level

This study programme is designed for 16-18-year-old learners who have faced challenges during secondary education and are not yet ready for a Level 1 programme.

This course is integrated into the wider study programme which includes English, maths, life skills and another short qualification. The course provides a broad curriculum and helps develop study skills and future career ideas.

Upon successful completion of this study programme, learners will achieve the City & Guilds E3 Certificate in Construction.

Units covered include:
– An Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction
– An Introduction to Carpentry and Joinery
– An Introduction to Painting and Decorating
– An Introduction to Bricklaying

Learners will also achieve units on Preparing for Further Learning or Employment and Preparing for an Interview, as well as undertaking activities such as teamwork and problem-solving. All units develop essential knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers look for.

After successfully completing this Construction Multi Skills and Retrofit programme, learners may be able to progress onto a Level 1 study programme.

You’ll achieve the City & Guilds Entry Level 3 Certificate in Construction Skills (6219), which is a recognised stepping stone into further training or employment.



You can progress to:

– Level 1 or Level 2 Diplomas in a specific trade (e.g., Bricklaying, Carpentry, Electrical Installation)

– Pre-apprenticeship programmes

– Entry-level roles in construction or site support
