BTEC First Certificate In Business Level 2 (Events and Marketing)

Take your first step into the world of business with this nationally recognised BTEC qualification.

This one-year course covers six engaging units designed to develop real-world skills that employers value. You’ll learn how to set up and grow a successful business, manage money confidently in both personal and business settings, and work effectively as part of a team.

Through realistic business simulations, you’ll gain hands-on experience delivering events and marketing projects for both internal and external clients – valuable experience that will stand out on your CV.

What you’ll study:

Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World (core)
Unit 2: Finance for Business (core)
Unit 9: Principles of Marketing (core)
Unit 20: Delivering and Improving Customer Service**
Unit 21: Effective Business Communication**
Unit 11: Building Successful Business Teams
** Unit 20 and Unit 21 are both double points units.

Unit 19: Introducing Project Management will also provide the framework for our Events and Marketing Academy.

Students are required to complete 70 hours of work experience for the forthcoming academic year.

Course details

Assessments

Assessment for this programme is achieved in two ways. All of the above units are assessed through coursework and the completion of assignments, with the exception of Unit 2 – Finance for Business and Unit 9 – Principles of Marketing which are assessed in form of external examinations.



With all units, students are given 2 opportunities to obtain a Pass, Merit or Distinction grade, whether it’s assessed via coursework or external exam.

Entry Requirements

All entrants must hold four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent (or above), including GCSE Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English you will continue studying these subjects alongside your chosen course(s). At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next level course.

Progression

You can progress naturally onto our Level 3 Business qualifications, including the T Level in Business and Administration or other Level 3 programmes. As a nationally recognised qualification, it also opens the door to trainee-level employment.

– Your academic or vocational qualification.

– Maths and English Language development – if you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in either of these subjects.

– Work Experience – hours will vary depending on your qualification and course level.

– Tutor Support – to support your personal, academic and professional development.

– Sustainability – helping you to identify how you can improve the sustainability of your future employment sectors.

– Personal Development Awards – developing six key areas of personal and employability behaviours to prepare you for the working world.
