Introductory Diploma In Land Based Studies – Level 1
This course will give you a thorough introduction to animal management studies. You will also do at least 2 weeks experience in a relevant setting to enable you to apply what you are learning on the course.

Assessments
Your course will be assessed by course work for each unit as well as a set of practical assessments in the animal centre.
Entry Requirements
You must hold four GCSEs at grade 2 or equivalent (or above), preferably including Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English, youโll continue studying these subjects alongside your chosen course(s). At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 1 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills (where applicable) before progressing on to your next course.

We have a fantastic new animal centre. It has several, industry standard rooms that give support your real life working skills.
There is a rodent room, an aquatics room, a reptile room as well as our outdoor enclosures for goats and chickens. Alongside brilliant facilities, you have a team of lecturers who have a broad range of prior experience in animal care settings . They can offer insight into the skills needed to be successful in the sector as well as ensuring your theory knowledge is accurate and up to date.

Do I need experience with animals to do this course?
No. You don’t have to have experience, but we would recommend that you gain some voluntary experience in a setting if possible to see if this area of study is the right one for you.
