Diploma In Hair & Beauty (Hairdressing) – Level 1
This qualification is designed for individuals who are wanting to gain experience developing basic skills in the hairdressing industry and wanting to gain understanding to pursue further studies in hair.
You will develop valuable practical and communication skills, and learn many elements such as:
– Introduction to the hair industry
– Presenting a professional image
– Shampoo and condition hair
– Style and finish / plait hair
You will also learn from varied guest speakers to support product knowledge.
Candidates learn, develop, and practice all the necessary skills in a friendly, supportive environment for employment and career progression or further study.

Course details
Assessments
Some units will be assessed through practical demonstrations and observations, while others will be evaluated through assignments and/or multiple-choice tests for certain qualifications. You will gain experience working and supporting in a commercial salon in an assisting role.
Entry Requirements
You will be asked to attend an interview to discuss qualifications and course content.
Progression
Upon successful completion and attendance of the course, you can progress onto Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
Facilities and resources
You will attend and achieve your assessments at The Hair and Beauty Academy at the Lifestyle Centre which is where we run our fully equipped hair and beauty salons, with up to date products and equipment.
FAQs
What else do I need to attend?
You will need to purchase a uniform as full uniform is required in all classes. You will also need a level 1 hair kit (which has all you need to get you started: brushed, combs and training heads)
Who do I practice on?
You will work on training heads and each other to build confidence with your skills, then progress to clients to gain assessments
