The Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery is designed for individuals who are passionate about food and aspire to build a career in the catering and hospitality industry. Assessments

Assessment is a mix of practical tasks, written coursework, and online exams to ensure learners develop both knowledge and hands-on expertise.



Practical Observations – demonstrating cooking and food preparation skills.

Written Assignments & Workbooks – covering food safety, kitchen management, and menu planning.

Online or Paper-Based Exams – assessing knowledge of food safety and cooking techniques.

Final Practical Assessment – preparing and presenting a full-course meal to industry standards.

Entry Requirements

All entrants must hold four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent (or above), including GCSE Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English you will continue studying these subjects alongside your chosen course(s). At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next level course.

Progression to a Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery or Patisserie & Confectionery.

Specialist courses in areas such as butchery, seafood preparation, or vegan and plant-based cooking.
