Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
This qualification is intended for anyone who assesses vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environments). The objective of this qualification is to give assessors the knowledge and skills to assess vocational competence in an environment other than the workplace.
This qualification comprises two mandatory units:
– Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
– Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
Successful achievement of both units must be achieved for the full qualification.
This is a certificated course.

Assessments
You will have to provide evidence that you have made assessment decisions using the following methods:
– Assessments of the learner in simulated environments
– Skills tests
– Oral and written questions
– Assignments
– Projects
– Case studies
– Recognising prior learning
Your course will include a live observation of your assessment practice and you must have access to observing/assessing relevant students. The tutorial support is arranged 1:1 (i.e. there will be no classroom timetabled sessions).
Entry Requirements
This qualification is open to anyone (aged 19 years old or over) who has occupational and technical competence in the areas that they wish to assess, with access to appropriate students to assess.
Progression
This qualification provides progression to the following additional assessing qualifications:
– Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
– Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
