Functional Skills Maths (Online)
This Level 1 Functional Skills Maths course covers skills that are needed in everyday life and working environments.
During the course, you will study the following topics:
– Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
– Fractions
– Decimals
– Percentages
– Data analysis
– Measurement
– Probability
This is an online independent study course. All the lessons are on Google Classroom where you work through the lessons. access resources and submit your work each week. The lecturer is available once a week at a designated time via a group Google Hangout for any questions or queries that you may have.
If you do not already have a Maths qualification in Level 2 or above in maths this course should be fully funded.

Assessments
You will sit an exam at the end of the course that covers both calculator and on-calculator questions. You will need to attend the college site to sit the exams.

You will sit an initial assessment to check if this is the right course for you.
Progression
Gaining functional skills Maths Level 1 can open up courses to you including Level 2 Maths as well as supporting you in progressing in the workplace.
Facilities and resources
You will need a scientific calculator and a geometry set. The lecturer will advise on the best calculator to buy.

Q: Is there any funding available to help me pay for my course?
A: Many of our courses are free to attend (subject to eligibility). We will carry out a fee assessment when you enrol to establish if you meet the criteria.
Q. I have not studied for a while, what support will be available?
A. As well support from your lecturer, you will also have access to our Adult Success Coach team. They can support you through the course by helping you to break down any barriers to learning and completing the course.
