This course is designed to prepare you for the Edexcel GCSE Maths syllabus and will offer an option for you to undertake your GCSE exam here at Petroc.

Weekly sessions will include virtual classroom learning, webinars and online tutorial.

During the course you will study the following modules:
– Fractions
– Decimals
– Percentages
– Patterns and sequences
– Data analysis
– Measurement
– Probability
– Algebra

You will undertake termly assessment to check progress. The final exams will be undertaken during the May/June exam season.

Entry Requirements

Studying online can be extremely challenging. Ideally this course is designed for students with a prior attainment of Functional Skills Level 2 or grade 3/D GCSE.


GCSE maths is a stepping stone to further and higher education.

Facilities and resources

Access to the internet and a personal computer are essential. It is recommended that you buy a textbook for home study. You will also need a scientific calculator and a geometry set. The lecturer will advise on the best calculator to buy.


Q: Is there any funding available to help pay for my course?

A: Many of our courses are free to attend (subject to eligibility). We will carry out a fee assessment when you enrolment to establish if you meet this criteria.
