Starting in September
Before starting at Petroc - as with everything in life - there's a bit of admin you need to do! But don't worry - it's all very straightforward and we're here to help at any time!
Over the summer, we’ll be calling you to confirm some details and check you have everything you need for the start of term.
myPetroc is your access to all things college-related – including your timetable*!
Make sure you've downloaded the app, logged in, updated your password and checked your details as soon as you can. You can then view a checklist of items to upload, such as your exam results, a copy of your DBS (if required) and a photo for your ID card.
You should have received your login details via email when you applied. If not, please check your spam/junk folder or contact registry@petroc.ac.uk.
*Your timetable will be released in September before you start your course - keep an eye out on myPetroc in September for more information!
Many of our courses will have reading lists, or you may also need special course-related equipment or a DBS check. Look for your course here and make sure you have all the equipment and books you need before starting in September.
You (and your parents) will have recently received an email from us inviting you to an Induction Day where you will meet your lecturers and fellow students, collect your ID badges and get involved in some fun subject-specific activities!
Induction days will take place on:
Â
Tuesday 6 September: North Devon and Brannams campus
Wednesday 7 September: Tiverton campus
Thursday 8 September: North Devon campus
Â
Please make sure you check your email for specific times and details.

Have you decided how you'll travel to college? Whatever transport you plan on taking, take some time to familiarise yourself with the route you’ll need to take. If you’re planning on taking the bus, you may be eligible for a free bus pass.
Education is free for all students aged 16-18 but there may be additional costs you need support with. But don't let money worries stand in your way.
The 16-18 Bursary Fund provides help towards any extra costs associated with your course. Take a look at the criteria to see if you can get financial help towards the cost of a bus pass, equipment, and books for your course, and well as help towards college trips and residentials.
You may also be eligible for free college lunches. Check out the criteria and apply now so that we can make sure it's available for you at the beginning of term.
We have a great range of clubs, activities and Academies here at Petroc to help you develop your skills, meet like-minded people and broaden your horizons.
We have all sorts of groups for wide-ranging interests such as DofE, LGBT+ group, sustainability, sports, STEM, e-Sports, music and film, and so much more! Make sure you take a look, sign up and get involved!
We have a whole range of support available to help you when you start college. From Additional Learning Support to Young Adult Carers to Wellbeing - we're here for you.
And, if you think you would benefit from having a bit of extra support with settling into college or staying on track with your course, then contact us about our free Skills for Young People project. You'll receive 121 mentoring support, work experience opportunities and employability training.
We know that College may seem like a vast place compared to your school, so to help get your bearings, why not take a look at our virtual campus tours or download a map! You can see where your classes will be held as well as social and study spaces!
On GCSE Results Day, don't forget to upload your results to the myPetroc app.
If you haven't achieved the grades you were hoping for - don’t worry! We can talk through your options. Just contact our friendly Advice & Guidance Team or pop in to see us - we're open throughout the summer from 8:30am-4:30pm and have late night opening (until 6:30pm) on 25, 30 and 31 August and 1 September.
If you would prefer to email us, please drop us a line at results@petroc.ac.ukÂ
