Events and Marketing – Level 2
This is a one year course designed to give you up to date insight into the leisure and tourism industry. The course will focus on the key skills needed in this sector in the 21st century and especially the marketing aspect of the key topics.
Some of the topics you will study are:
Component industries in tourism and leisure sector
Marketing of visitor attractions
Customer service
Events marketing – you will have the opportunity to plan your own event and market this
Understanding the different aspects of popular destinations

Course details
Assessments
You will complete a variety of written assignments and practical assessments tasks including presentations that develop your research skills, team work and apply what you have learnt in the classroom to demonstrate your understanding. These will be graded tasks.
Entry Requirements
All entrants must hold four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent (or above), including GCSE Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English you will continue studying these subjects alongside your chosen course(s). At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next level course.
Progression
Further study eg on Level 3 courses in Business is a natural progression step. You could also go directly into work or an apprenticeship.

We have IT resources and study areas for group or individual work which you can utilise, as well as an experienced lecturing team.
FAQs
Do I need to complete work experience on the course?
Yes, you will have to complete at least 2 week mandatory work experience in a relevant setting. This will enable to apply what you have learnt in a real life setting and give context to what you are learning.
Do I need really good IT skills?
No, but you need to prepared to learn how to use modern technology to support you to work efficiently in this sector.
